The NMC Makerspace is a space for the NMC community to make and design our ‘everyday digital’ and physical world together creatively.
What happens in the Space?
We make and design digital and physical, traditional and modern, ideas and solutions, repairs and life ‘hacks’. We also do product development related to access and wellbeing.

The key principle of how the Makerspace contributes to the NMC is that we make things together. This means we are not necessarily a service. We will try to make anything we can for our community, but ideally, we want to make it together.
We believe learning how to make things together with our facilities is empowering, contributes to a healthy, productive social life, and is part of our wider digital inclusion strategy. We support commercial work for Design + Print social enterprise but under this principle of learning and building our individual and social capacity.
It’s an open space with access to digital & physical tools for us to discuss and collaborate around ‘hybrid’ making projects; the partly physical and partly digital things that address issues relevant to the NMC community, what we want and what we need.
We do this through laser cutting and engraving, printing, carpentry, modelling, 3D printing, sewing, textiles, electronics, vinyl cutting, constructing, prototyping, engraving, designing, learning, training and supporting.
