From one-off events to regular roles at NMC
We’re thankful to all the volunteers who make such a difference to the NMC. We have volunteers who help in our gardeners, on our reception and in many other areas of the centre. We also have volunteers who help at our events and activities including our Fishing Days and Live in the Park (our outdoor concert at Arley Hall).
Regular volunteering
If you’d like to volunteer regularly with the NMC then we ask that you fill in an application form, and then come to meet with us so we can tell you more about the role. We’re a person centred organisation and we ask that all our volunteers have an inclusive understanding of disability and have good listening skills.
We are currently looking for the following volunteer roles at the NMC – please click one to find out more.
-
Makerspace Volunteer Lab Technician
As a Volunteer Lab Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting the daily operations of our creative Makerspace.
-
Volunteer Receptionist
We are looking for someone to offer a warm welcome as people arrive at the NMC, and to check them in for their various appointments.
-
Volunteer Gardener
We are looking for someone to work with our head gardener in maintaining and developing the NMC Gardens.
Work experience
If you’re a young person (under 18) with a neuromuscular condition looking for work experience, then there are two opportunities for work experience.
-
Graphic design work experience
This role is for a young person (Under 18). Over the course of five days, you will be given a graphic design brief and work towards completion of a finished piece that you can take away.
-
Charity Overview work experience
This role is for a young person (Under 18). Over the course of five days, you will spend time with different departments at NMC.
If you’re interested in one of these two roles then please click the one you’re interested in and click “Apply now” from that page. (If your condition means that you can’t do this then please contact us).
Once we’ve assessed your application, we’ll be in touch to arrange the next steps. If you’re a young person (under 18) who doesn’t have a neuromuscular condition but is passionate about learning more about the charity sector and neuromuscular conditions then we’ll still consider your application, but as I’m sure you’ll understand, our priority is providing placements for young people with condition.
One-off event volunteering
If you’d like to volunteer at one of our events, then send us a message.

The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service
In 2017 we were honoured to receive The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service. It is truly an award for all our Volunteers, and we are very grateful for everyone that dedicates their time to NMC.
