Groups and social events

Our programme of social events, activities and clubs is known as ‘Connect Up’, which  began as a funded project to tackle loneliness and social isolation. It has steadily grown and is now open to all, and represents the very best of NMC: connection, support and friendship.

We have a wide range of activities and specialist groups available to all, some regular and some one-off.

If you’d like to meet new people, learn a new skill, join us for a day out, share your experiences or perhaps join us for a cup of tea and a chat then you’ll be very welcome.

Please get in touch if you would like any further information and to join in with the amazing community spirit that is so rich at NMC. If you would like to be added to the mailing list, please email connectup@nmcentre.com

Shed Club

The Shed Club not only provides a creative and therapeutic outlet for people with neuromuscular conditions and carers, but also a vital support network for its members. They use recycled wood to make items like planters, bird feeders and wheelbarrows, selling them to support the work of NMC.

Fishing Club

Our Fishing Club, running annually from May to September, is one of our most popular groups. It was created after identifying that many people in our community had enjoyed fishing but felt unable to participate due to their condition. In response, volunteer Paul Baddeley, who has been part of NMC for nearly 30 years, established an accessible fishing club to ensure everyone can continue enjoying the activity.
