Foot health

People who experience difficulty with movement because of weak muscles often find it challenging to attend to all areas of their body. This is particularly true when it comes to their feet.

People may find it difficult to bend and reach towards their feet, or they may find it difficult to operate scissors or nail clippers because of weakness in their grip. Ensuring good foot health is vital in avoiding more complicated problems in the future, even if you’re not using them for standing or walking around.

At NMC, we are fortunate to run a fortnightly foot health service in the physiotherapy department. Our foot health specialist Tracey Adlem – who has a background in aesthetics and holistic therapy – provides a range of services. From nail trimming and managing calluses to overall foot health check-ups, Tracy aims to prevent problems before they happen. She is also able to spot problems which might need further investigation by a doctor or podiatrist and advise accordingly. Please ask one of the physiotherapy team if you would like more detail about our foot health service or ask Tracey when she’s in department every other Monday.
