Our physiotherapy team consists of specialist neuromuscular physiotherapists, neuromuscular therapists and physiotherapy assistants who provide assessment, treatment and advice for people with a neuromuscular condition.

We offer a range of specialist services upon referral from your GP or Consultant. These services include physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, exercise within our neuromuscular gym, pain care and more. Unlike many physiotherapy services which are able to offer a fixed duration of treatment, the NMC physiotherapy service can provide lifelong care for lifelong conditions. This service is free of charge, but we do seek funding from the NHS, and we ask people to make their own travel arrangements in visiting us. We aim for our service to be as person-centred as possible and we pride ourselves on providing care which works with people - not problems.

The physiotherapy team at NMC is actively engaged in the education of physiotherapy students on practice placement through links with Keele University and the University of Liverpool. Our physiotherapy team has also formed an exciting partnership with Manchester Metropolitan University, collaborating on groundbreaking research into the effects of physiotherapy, exercise and diet on people with neuromuscular conditions.
We have strong links with regional neuromuscular clinics at RJAH Oswestry, The Walton Centre in Liverpool, Royal Preston Hospital, The John Walton Centre in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, The London Centre for Neuromuscular Disease and Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham. We also have links with regional respiratory clinics and local services.
